You're second-guessing every call, every text; you can't seem to have a decent, adult conversation. He walks away, and you're left feeling frustrated and worried that this was your last chance at happiness.

WHACK! Those familiar feelings of fear of commitment. Whether it's coming from you or them, the idea of opening up your heart and letting someone in again is too much to contemplate. You immediately self-sabotage and find yourself wondering what is wrong with you.

OOF! Wait, you know this guy. You've been here before. You recognise the manipulation, the gaslighting, the put-downs. You remember that sick-to-your-stomach feeling every time you get a text from him wanting to know where you are and what you're doing. You've made this bad choice before, and here you are again... you wish you were alone again because anything is better than this toxicity.

POW! You can't open up because you've spent so many years protecting yourself and your heart that you have no idea how to communicate with your significant other anymore. You desperately want to let someone in, but past trauma has taught you that people are not to be trusted, and you pull away. You push him away, and you find yourself alone. Again.

Eventually, you're just exhausted. The emotions you pour out of yourself into a relationship leave you feeling drained and wanting to shut yourself away, so you don't have to deal with the hurt and devastation again.

I've been where you are now. I've walked more than a mile in your shoes. I've dealt with the pain, the insecurity, the fear, and the self-loathing.

I've self-sabotaged, fallen prey to the people that have actively chosen to break me, and I've come out the other side.

I tried everything. I read self-help books, listened to podcasts, saw a relationship coach who just tried to teach me how to flirt.

I watched YouTube videos and went to therapy.

While some of it worked- to a point- others did nothing.

In the end, I needed to look inside myself to see where I was going wrong. This was when I realised that it was time to deal with my past trauma and learn to love myself first.

I chose to heal myself so that I could attract the right partner.

I spent time working through my trauma, doing Shadow Work, healing my inner child, and learning how to clear limiting beliefs.

I learnt how to heal myself. I learnt how to open myself up to love and attract the right person, and am now living my best life in a beautiful, healthy, and functional relationship.
